Il ne forme pas de stolons, il ne pousse donc pas trop fort. Les valeurs décoratives de cette espèce créent diverses possibilités d’utilisation. Graminée haute au beau feuillage étalé, à la floraison spectaculaire tout l'été, elle peut être plantée en massifs, seule ou en groupe, dans de grands jardins alpins et dans des décors naturalistes.
